Writer's Guidelines

LENG is the premiere magazine for Cthulhu Mythos fiction. We LOVE the Mythos and know that you do too! We've read hundreds of Mythos stories and now we want to share the BEST of them with you! Do you think that you've got a great Mythos story to tell? We'd love to see it! But please make sure to follow these guidelines when you submit your stories:

LENG seeks the classic type of Mythos fiction which means NO slasher/gore/erotic horror stories. Think Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Machen, Blackwood, Hodgson and you'll know what we're looking for. Although we prefer stories that have actual ties to the people/places/books/creatures of the Mythos we also like stories that are faithful to the spirit and theme of Lovecraft's original works. As such, we want original horror fiction stories of around 3,500 words. If your story is over 3,500 words, please query before sending it.

Payment is ONE cent per word upon publication. A standard contract is issued upon acceptance of the story which details rate, payment and expected publication date. A free copy of the issue with your story is provided as well.

Simultaneous submissions are ok as long as you state that you are sending a simultaneous submission with your story. Reprints are acceptable provided that the story was printed over one year before your submission but we prefer new stories when possible.
